Sugar Land Middle School

 

The Philharmonic Orchestra is the non-varsity orchestra at SLMS. This orchestra will continue to develop tone production, shifting, and ensemble skills learned in beginning and sub non-varsity level classes. To be placed in this class students must demonstrate mastery of shifting to higher positions, intermediate vibrato skills, and be able to cleanly and accurately read music at an intermediate level. Students in this group may be required to attend weekly before or after school sectionals in the Spring Semester. Members of this orchestra are also encouraged to participate in All-Region Orchestra auditions, UIL Solo and Ensemble, and are required to participate in UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest.
