Basic Supply List
All students need the following materials each year to be successful in orchestra class.
Violins and Violas
- Instrument, Bow, Case
- Rosin
- Instrument Cloth - most stores provide this for free with your instrument rental
- Kun OR Everest model shoulder rest
- D'Addario NS micro tuner
- Metronome (free phone apps work fine)- Korg TM-60 model also excellent
- Folding Music Stand (black wire)
- Designated Orchestra Black three-ring binder 1-inch
- 4 section dividers in binder- labeled Notes, Technique, Orchestra Music, and Practice Reflections
- Pencils (Mechanical or Wood)
- Zipper three ring pouch (To hold all of your pencils)
- Technique Books (see book list below)
Cellos
- Instrument, Bow, Case
- Rosin
- Instrument Cloth - Most stores provide this for free with your rental
- Rock Stop - necessary when playing on non-carpeted surfaces, such as in our classroom
- A hard chair or stool - you should be able to sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor and your knees at a right angle. Should not have arm rests.
- Korg TM-60 Metronome/Tuner with contact microphone
- Folding Music Stand (black wire)
- Designated Orchestra Black three-ring binder 1-inch
- 4 section dividers in binder- labeled Notes, Technique, Orchestra Music, and Practice Reflections
- Pencils (Mechanical or Wood)
- Zipper three ring pouch (To hold all of your pencils, rock stop, and tuner)
- Technique Books (see book list below)
Basses
- Instrument, Case, Bow
- Rosin - Bass rosin is SPECIAL! I recommend Kolstein brand. Pops is an acceptable alternative
- Instrument Cloth - Most stores provide this for free with your rental
- Rock Stop - necessary when playing on non-carpeted surfaces, such as our stage
- Stool - height depends on your height. Generally, a 24" stool works for beginners. Target has a great inexpensive option
- Korg TM-60 Metronome/Tuner with contact mic
- Folding Music Stand (black wire)
- Designated Orchestra Black three-ring binder 1-inch

Book List
All students must purchase their own method books for the year. These books can be purchased from a rental shop, or online through retailers like Amazon, Shar, and Southwest Strings. Students will use their books every day in class and practice from them at home. When purchasing a book, please make sure it is for the correct instrument.
