About Fifth Grade

Welcome to the last stop on "The Elementary Road". Although the educational journey does not end here, this will be a pivotal year for your child as we prepare them to move on to middle school. Prepare for a year of exciting challenges that will prepare your student for a lifetime of success!

In fifth grade reading, we focus on working with higher level thinking skills to encourage students to analyze passages and novels throughout the year. We work to integrate reading and social studies to encourage an interest in American History. We also prepare interactive notebooks where the students complete individual and group activities. These notebooks are used in class daily. We want to encourage a love of reading and would like for our students to have reading materials available in class daily. 

We will follow a guided math model in which students will be working in stations this year and will receive differentiated instruction in small groups based on their needs and strengths. In both math and science, the students will have interactive notebooks that they will be working in daily. These notebooks will serve as the foundation of their instruction. These notebooks will help students prepare for tests.
