• Student Tardiness:

It is important for students to attend school everyday and arrive on time. The building will open as early as 7:30 a.m. Once the late bell rings at 8:10, any student not in class will receive a tardy slip. In accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, repeated instances of tardiness can result in administrative action. For the academic success of our students, we encourage all of our students to be at school in a timely manner to receive instruction.
Students are expected to arrive on campus between 7:30 and 8:00 each morning. School begins at 8:10 a.m. Following an absence from school, the student must bring a note to the attendance clerk no later than the fifth school day upon returning to school.

The note must include: Student’s first and last name. Teacher’s name, description of reason for absence., date (s) for the absence (s), parent’s contact numbers, and parent signature with date of note.

Please Note: Personal vacations and activities scheduled during regular school days are NOT acceptable absences. Tardies: You are considered tardy at 8:11 am. Parents must escort their child into the building and sign in. (Please do not park in the fire lane.) Parents will receive a warning letter upon your childs 3rd tardy. Upon your 6th tardy, you will have to attend an after-school detention session to make up class work and time. Perfect attendance: Perfect attendance will only be awarded to students who attend school daily. Students must arrive to school on time and stay the full day.
  • Early Release Procedures:

If you need to pick up your child early from school, please remember that you must notify the teacher and contact and front office in a timely manner. Students will not be released after 2:30 p.m. or last minutes walk-ins. Students who leave early will receive a tardy. Students must be signed out in the front office prior to leaving the building, please have your ID with you when you sign your child out.

If students are being signed out for a dentist or doctors appointment please bring an excuse from the dentist or doctors office to pardon the tardy and/or absence.
Please remember that student attendance is crucial to learning. We ask that appointments be scheduled outside of school hours as much as reasonably possible. Also note that picking up a child early on a regular basis results in missed opportunities for learning.

    Afternoon Dismissal:

Students will be released for dismissal at 3:10 p.m. according to form of transportation. Biker riders, car riders, daycare riders, and walkers are released first and escorted to their designated area by a teacher.

Walkers and biker riders are escorted to a certain area for pick up outside by a teacher. If a parent and or guardian is not at the designated area to pick up the child they will not be released to continue home. A guardian must meet the teacher to pick up the child.

Car riders are released from the gym. You must have a car tag in your window to notify the teacher who you are and who you intend to pick up. Parents can not come into the building to pick up car riders, students will not be released through the front office.

Bus riders are released in the cafeteria and placed on the bus. Students must know their bus number prior to getting on the bus.

If you intend to change your child's form of transportation you must do so before 1 p.m. Also, transportation changes may not be made over the phone, a note must be provided or made in person.

    Rainy Day Dismissal:

    1. Moderate to severe rain is present at 2:55 p.m.

    2. Anytime lightning occurs at 2:55 p.m.

    3. Weather Watches or Warnings are issues for Fort Bend County at 2:45 p.m.

Parents are urged to take the initiative and monitor the weather forecast and make a plan before your student leaves for school. If appropriate, make sure you child is equipped with the necessary rain gear. Although we will do our best to make sound decisions concerning dismissal, we cannot control the weather.

In addition, we request that you avoid calling the school between 2:30 and 3:00 to change your child’s route home. No changes in dismissal will be made after 2:30 p.m. Thank you for understanding that we have over 600 students, and we need your help by planning in advance. Also, thank you for not coming into the building prior to dismissal to sign your child out early in order to avoid car lines. With over 600 students, we really need and appreciate the cooperation of everyone.

All walkers and bikers must have a “Rainy Day Plan” on file with the homeroom teacher.
