Mrs. Rosalind Brown
Greetings
My name is Rosalind Brown. I have been teaching for 22 years. This is my 4th year at Donald Leonetti Elementary, as a Kindergarten Teacher and my 11th year with FBSID. My education career started in 2001. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction-Reading Education, from Prairie View A&M University, received my teaching certification from the University of Houston, received my Bachelor of Science degree from McNesse State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I am from Louisiana, but I have been living in Texas for over 30 years.
I have taught grades Pre-K-3rd. I was a reading and math interventionist for grades 1st - 4th. My leadership experience includes team leader, mentor and master teacher, cooperating teacher, science lead teacher, reading, math, and science coordinator, Balanced Literacy Framework model teacher, Alley Theater-Arts Integrations classroom model-teacher, Champion of Gifted Services Coordinator and Writers Workshop Coordinator.
I have taught in Houston and Alief Independent School Districts. I am a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated, Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in Education, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
My accomplishments are Teacher of the Year nominee 2005, 2008, 2010, 2020, teacher of the month, August 2020, HAABSE 2020 (Houston Area Alliance Black School Educators) runner up. First grade Gifted and Talented teacher 2013-2016. My students and I have published nine children books while working in FBISD. I was awarded the ELA classroom winner for 2018.
I am married to Dr. Eric Brown and we have three children Michael, Geric and Aeriel. My hobbies includes shopping, decorating, exercising, planning events and having bible studies with friends and family. I love working with young children and teaching them how to read.
