This is my 25th year teaching. I have taught second, third, and fourth grade, Reading Recovery, Special Education, and ESL. Prior to coming to Thornton, I was the reading specialist at Sienna Crossing for ten years. In addition, I spent two and a half years as the FBISD ELA K-2 Curriculum Coordinator. Every year has been exciting and memorable, as I have been lucky to teach wonderful students and work with fabulous teachers. My husband, Adrian, and I moved from Austin to the Sugar Land area in 1997. We have two children, Mackenzie and Gavin. Mackenzie is a junior at Texas A&M, and Gavin is a junior at Ridge Point High School. I'm the oldest of six children, and all of my family continues to live in San Antonio, where I grew up.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (Go Horns!) in 1996 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education. I completed a Masters in Reading Instruction and Administration in 2001.
In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and as I work with my peers. I believe that great things can happen when we work together! I am so excited about being surrounded by such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents as we begin our journey at RTMS.
