About Music

Welcome to the Colony Bend Elementary music room! Music is an integral part of a well-rounded education for our students at Colony Bend Elementary. Students learn musical concepts in a variety of ways. Our students learn about and experience musical concepts through singing, playing instruments, creative movement, composing, technology, and children's literature.

We are excited to offer a number of extra-curricular musical clubs throughout the year! Here are just some of the ways students can participate in music this school year:

Colony Bend Eagles Choir  This group is open to all students in third through fifth grade. We have performed at the annual iFest in Sugar Land, and for our winter and spring concerts. All students are welcome to participate in this group, and there are no audition requirements. Students need to turn in a registration form which is sent home in the first weeks of school, so that they may be added to the choir roster. Third grade choir meets 7:40-8:10 a.m. each Monday, and Fourth and Fifth grade choir meets Tuesday from 7:40-8:10 a.m.

FBISD Honor Choir   This group is by audition only and is open to fifth graders. Four students will be selected. Students must sing either America, Happy Birthday, or a song of their choice that does not have piano or recorded accompaniment. The students must sing in front of Mrs. Vrotny and another teacher representative.  To be eligible for this group, students must be able to replicate exact pitches that are sung to them, be able to maintain their own part in a round such as Row Row Row Your Boat, and be willing to take direction and memorize a large amount of music. We have had some amazing singing opportunities! We had the honor of being one of two elementary choral groups selected to sing at TMEA; the largest music teacher's convention in the state, and most recently have performed at the Smart Financial Center for convocation.
