Foundations is a component of the Safe & Civil Schools program that focuses on improving school climate and student behavior. Through this program, a campus-level Foundations Team is created. This team is comprised of principals, the counselor, grade-level teacher representatives, and specialists. The Foundations team works together with faculty to establish procedures and expectations for students while in the hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and at recess. JSES is in our 4th year of implementing the Foundations program.
CHAMPS is a proactive and positive approach to classroom management. It is designed help teachers manage student behavior and increase student motivation. H(Help)- How do the students get the teachers attention?
A(Activity)- What is the task or objective?
M(Movement)- Can students move about?
P(Participation)- What does the expected student behavior look or sound like?
S(Success)- If students follow the CHAMPS expectations, they will be successful.
