SaRenna McDonald, extraordinary teacher to elementary super star students. I didn't fall into teaching from another career choice - I majored in Elementary Education at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. In 2003 I started a new adventure when I moved to Miami, FL and began teaching at Henry ES Reeves Elementary School. My first twelve years of teaching were at the same Miami-Dade County Public School and I still have close contact with some of my former students and Principal. I held various positions during my 12yr career there. My experience as a Reading Intervention Specialist, classroom and Special Education Resource teacher has helped to develop me into the teacher I am today. While living in Miami I attended Barry University where I majored in Special Education and earned my Masters Degree.
In August 2015 I took a leap of faith and relocated my family to Houston, TX. Go Texans! Since being in Texas I have worked at E.A. Jones in the Reading Recovery department, Prekindergarten and first grade. I was able to learn so much from the students and teachers there. In 2020 we all experienced dramatic changes in our daily lives and careers. COVID-19 has changed life and school as we've known it. With all of the changes also came a very welcoming change in my career. I was hired as a third grade teacher at Juan Sequin Elementary School home of the stallions. I have never been afraid of change and I welcome the change that I am entering for the new school year.
Let the new adventures begin!
