Welcome to Art at Commonwealth Elementary!  I am Ms. Patel. I grew up in Fort Bend and attended the University of Houston Main where I graduated with a BFA and Art Education Certification in 2013.  I have been teaching art in FBISD since '13 and began teaching art at CWE in 2018. 

I love sharing my passion for art and being able to explore all sorts of creative possibilities alongside my students.  Throughout the school year, we exercise creative problem-solving while exploring various art styles, media and techniques. 

We also discover how to connect what we learn in Art to what we learn in other subjects (such as Science, Math, ELA and Social Studies) as well as other aspects of life.  As Da Vinci expressed, "To develop a complete mind:

Study the science of art;

Study the art of science. 

Learn how to see. 

Realize that everything connects to everything else."

I believe the study of Art plays an important role in equipping us with the inspiration, imagination and innovative skills utilized in everything we pursue!
