Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Melanie Mubarak

2023 marks the beginning of my 17th year at CWE, and my 29th year in education.  I believe that I am the luckiest librarian in the state of Texas because our kids at Commonwealth love to read, and the Commonwealth community supports my efforts to create life-long readers.

Before coming to CWE, I taught 7th grade English in Pasadena ISD, 7th & 8th grade Theatre Arts in Alvin ISD, 6th & 7th grade English at Lake Olympia Middle School, and was the Librarian for 1 year at Ridgemont Elementary.

I received my Bachelors of Arts degrees from University of Houston where I double-majored in Theatre and English, and studied to become certified to teach in those areas.  I was selected to participate in the AT&T Teachers for Tomorrow program where I completed a year-long intensive internship at Furr High School in HISD.

After 10 years in the classroom, I went back to school to become a Librarian.  I earned my Masters in Library Science from University of North Texas.

I am a product of Fort Bend ISD. I attended Quail Valley Elementary, Quail Valley Junior High, and graduated from John Foster Dulles High School.

My husband, John, and I have two children: Joaquin, who is working for the IT Department in Fort Bend ISD, and Sofia, who is currently working for CWE's Extended Day Program.
