Mrs. Stallings is the fifth grade Reading teacher. In fifth grade reading, we focus on working with higher level thinking skills to encourage students to analyze passages and novels throughout the year. We want to encourage a love of reading and would like our students to have reading materials available in class daily. 

Mrs. Montiverdi is the fifth grade Math teacher. In math, the students will have interactive notebooks that they will work in daily. These notebooks will serve as the foundation of their instruction. Students will build their notebooks this year through creative note-taking and engaging activities. Students are allowed and encouraged to take these notebooks home each evening, but they must be returned to school every day. There will be a review sheet in addition to the math notebooks to prepare for each math test. Review sheets will be assigned as homework a few days before the test. We will then go over the review sheet in class, the day before the test. Students will receive math homework several nights each week. Most nights the homework will reflect the lesson taught in class that day, and occasionally there will be skills homework.  

Ms. Yates will be the Science teacher for fifth grade.  In science, notebook pages will be occasionally finished for homework, and these notebooks will serve as their study guide to prepare for tests. These notebooks are used in class daily.

 

Ms. Tobias will be the Writing and Social Studies teacher for fifth grade.  She will work to integrate reading, writing and social studies to encourage an interest in American History. We also prepare interactive notebooks where the students complete individual and group activities.
