My name is Denise Brooks and I always wanted to be a teacher. My career began in 1989 in New Orleans where my dream became a reality. I am certified in grades K-8 and am also a certified state mentor in Louisiana. After relocating to Houston in 2000, I worked in Fort Bend ISD as a teacher, campus instructional and data coach, and an administrator. In 2011, I joined Houston ISD, where I had the pleasure of serving as a Teacher Development Specialist. I am excited about returning to Fort Bend ISD as a Literacy Intervention Specialist.
My role allows me to focus on instruction and work collaboratively with colleagues, while addressing the needs of students. I have worked with great mentors and coaches throughout the years, and I bring those valuable lessons learned along with instructional experiences into this role. The idea of meeting students where they are and being an integral part of the progress they will make is an exciting one.
