Mrs. Ermita Metoyer

Welcome to fourth grade! My name is Ermita Metoyer, and this is my 21st year teaching and my 12th year at Sienna Crossing Elementary. I look forward to another fantastic year of watching my students grow academically and socially.

I was born in Tallahassee, Florida, graduating from Florida State University High School. After graduation, I attended Vanderbilt University where I earned a B.A. in English and Spanish. I was recruited by Teach for America during their inaugural year, and earned my teaching certificate through the Los Angeles Unified School District. I taught in bilingual classrooms in Los Angeles and San Diego Unified School Districts.   While in Los Angeles, I attended UCLA, where I earned an M.A. in Latin American Studies.

I married my college sweetheart and lived in San Diego for 20 years. We moved to Missouri City in 2007.  We have 3 beautiful girls: Gabrielle, Sophia and Leea.  When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy learning about different cultures (¡Hablo español!), reading, traveling, interior design, and watching any cool British import series on PBS’ Masterpiece Theater!

I have a love for academic growth and an appreciation for the parent-teacher partnership that makes it all possible. Each year, I encourage my class to pursue excellence every day, and remind that "practice makes progress!" We work hard and have fun! It’s great to be a Gator!
