My name is Cole Younkers, and I am the music teacher here at Commonwealth Elementary. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Music in music studies. My primary instrument is the trombone, but I've taken lessons in some capacity for: voice, ukulele, piano, trumpet, french horn, baritone, tuba, violin, cello, clarinet, flute, and percussion. Outside of music, I love to play golf, paint minifigures, grow bonsai, read, and play video games. 

In my music class, students will be learning the foundations of music literacy, how to express themselves creatively, and the historical context of music. This will include learning how to read and perform folk songs from around the world, playing a variety of instruments, performing dances and musicals, describing music with academic language, and more! I am very excited to see familiar and new faces as we all explore music and continue to grow as musicians.
