Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day and to grow as an individual.
Tardies
It is important for students to arrive on time. The building will open as early as 7:30 a.m. All students MUST be in their classroom by the last bell at 8:05 a.m. Any student that arrives after 8:05 a.m must be signed in by a parent and will receive a tardy slip. The official attendance-taking time for Lexington Creek Elementary is 10:00 a.m. each school day. Students are expected to be in class each day at 10:00 am. Students not present at that time will be marked absent for the entire day. (Exception: Students not present at 10:00 a.m. due to a medical appointment will be an excused absence only with a doctor’s note.)
Absences
When a student is absent from school, a note must be submitted within five school-days of returning to school. The note must be signed by the parent and describes the reason for the absence. The Absence Note Form can be found by clicking on this link. Click Here for the Absence Note. Parents can also submit an email to the following website: https://www.fortbendisd.com/Page/24809.Any special considerations for excused absences, including those for observing religious holy days, should be made in advance by notifying the front office. It is the responsibility of the student to do his/her work in all classes.
If a parent would like homework for a student who is ill, please call the front office by 10:00 a.m. to request homework. The homework will be ready for pickup at dismissal time.
Early Checkout
If you need to pick up your child from school early, you may report to the front office of the school, show a valid photo ID, and a staff member will call for your child. In order to maximize instruction, students will be called out of class when a parent arrives to sign them out. Please plan ahead for appointments, as we would like to minimize missed class time.
Please be advised that the final twenty-five minutes of the school day is very busy and we cannot call students out for early dismissal after 3:00 pm. Dismissal is at 3:25 p.m. Thank you for your understanding.
