Hello!
My name is Derrick Brown, and I am excited about beginning my first year at Lexington Creek Elementary and my third year as an Art teacher. I graduated from Texas Southern University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and hold an Art EC–12 Certification. I am also a proud graduate of Hightower High School and an alumnus of Lake Olympia Middle School. Prior to becoming a classroom teacher, I gained valuable experience working as a substitute teacher with Kokua Education for four years.

Outside the classroom, I enjoy exploring my creative side through drawing and painting, and I’m also a big Nintendo and gaming fan. I often attend anime and trading card events, which fuel my creativity and connect me to a wider community of artists and fans. Being born and raised in Houston, I’m definitely no stranger to the humidity, and I’m proud to be serving the same community that shaped me.

I look forward to sharing my passion for the arts and inspire our talented young scholars to express themselves creatively, think critically, and grow as artists.
