Visual Arts Teachers
Ms. Sara McKee
Ms. Mckee holds a masters degree from the University of Houston in Curriculum and Instruction in Art Education and a bachelors from Baylor University
"I believe that visual arts are paramount to developing personal expression, creativity, independence, and awareness of visual impacts on humanity. Through the visual expression and instruction of a variety of media, I encourage students to investigate the inner and outer worlds around them. I am an advocate of community involvement and healthy visual art competition."
Ms. Alyssa Mendiola
Ms. Mendiola is a graduate of FBISD Elkins High School. She holds a masters in curriculum and instruction and a bachelors in art education from Houston Baptist University.
"As a high school art teacher, I look forward to going to work and seeing my students. My goal is to nurture each student's individuality, creativity and help them find a sense of self. Art is an expression of self. A student can pour their emotions, feelings, struggles, and desires into art. In today’s society filled with turmoil and uncertainty, I feel it is important to allow my students an outlet. I also want to provide a supportive and stable environment. I have found that even small successes help build a strong confident foundation for any student."
