Gifted and Talented Information
Is your child exceptionally bright, and they seem far more advanced when you compare them to their peers? Consider referring your child for testing to see if they will qualify for the FBISD Gifted and Talented Program.
The Gifted and Talented referral window opens in August 2024 and closes September 2024. Referrals are submitted online. Please use the link below. Testing will be conducted this fall where students will be given the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). Parent notification letters will be mailed home in February 2025. If a student is identified and qualifies for gifted services, their services will begin the following school year (August 2025) except for kindergarten students. If a kindergarten student qualifies, their services will begin in March of the current year.
Please note: ALL 2nd grade students who are not identified as Gifted/Talented will be given the same test (CogAT) as part of the district's Universal Screener to help identify 2nd grade students for the gifted program. This testing will be done in October 2024. Parents will receive more information about the Universal Screener closer to testing time.
