Welcome to Kempner!

My name is Coach Cannie Dobbins, and I am excited to continue my journey at Kempner High School! I currently serve as the O-Lab Teacher, Health Teacher, and PE Department Head. In addition, I am proud to serve as the Offensive Coordinator for the Cougar Football Program and as an Assistant Coach with Lady Cougar Softball.

This will be my 12th year in education and my 2nd year at Kempner. My teaching and coaching journey has taken me through Brazosport HS, Ronald Thornton MS, West Brazos MS, Stafford MS/HS, Lake Jackson Intermediate, and First Colony MS. I began my football career as a player at Blinn College, then earned my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston–Victoria and later my Master’s Degree from Concordia University. As a proud FBISD graduate from Dulles High School, it’s an honor to give back to the district and community that shaped me.

On a personal note, my wife of 19 years (a Willowridge HS alum) and I are proud parents of three amazing children, all of whom have attended FBISD schools:

• Canada – 2024 Hightower HS Graduate

• Chloe – 11th Grade, Crawford HS

• Cannie IV – 4th Grade, FHE

In my free time, I enjoy watching football and movies.

My primary goal this year is to continue building positive, meaningful relationships with students and parents/guardians. Once those relationships are in place, we can focus together on achieving success both inside and outside the classroom. As your teacher, I see myself as a tour guide, here to support and encourage you through this year’s academic journey.
