• 21st Annual Fort Bend ISD Education Expedition Bike Ride a Success!

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, the Fort Bend ISD Education Foundation hosted its 21st annual Education Expedition Bike Ride, presented by Shottenkirk Kia Fort Bend. Thanks to everyone involved, the event was a great success! The ride welcomed 376 riders, more than 250 volunteers and netted nearly $30,000 to support the Education Foundation's Grants to Teachers and Schools program!

The cyclists dubbed the ride as “the flattest, friendliest ride in Texas; guaranteed NO hills or mountains but lovely scenic views with the smoothest roads in Texas!” The route was closely aligned to rides from the past two years, but included minor improvements.

Riders took off at 7:30 a.m. from Freedom Field in Iowa Colony to wind through the quiet streets and countryside of Brazoria County before looping back to the finish. Our riders requested to move off the busy streets, so the supported route was back by popular demand. Cyclists had the option of four routes: 32, 48, 66 or 83 miles.

Rest stops were themed and staffed by Fort Bend ISD high school students vying for the “Best Rest Stop” award. SAG wagon, motorcycle support, and bike shop mechanics were on the course to assist riders with any needs. After the ride, participants enjoyed hot lunch options, and voted for their favorite Rest Stop!

This ride was an Additional Training Ride and all proceeds benefit the Fort Bend Education Foundation. The Fort Bend Education Foundation provides opportunities to enrich and enhance the quality of education for all Fort Bend ISD students through its Grants to Teachers and Schools programs. We touch EVERY school in Fort Bend ISD!
