My name is Maria Esther Cole. I am originally from the Rio Grande Valley, in South Texas, where I graduated from The University of Texas Pan American in 1996. I have taught for a good while, a total of 28 years and have enjoyed every minute. I am proud to say that this is my  17th  year at E.A. Jones. In the past, I have taught Third Grade, Second Grade, First grade, ESL, and Reading Recovery. This is my 9th year as a Bilingual Literacy Interventionist.

As a second language learner myself, I get great pleasure in teaching second language learners. I am privileged to work with students who are struggling readers. I work mostly with bilingual students who need extra support in their learning. I use two research-based programs called Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) and Soluciones. We are going to have a great school year and grow together.
