🌟 About Us

The National Honor Society (NHS) at William B. Travis High School recognizes and celebrates students who exemplify the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. As part of a nationally recognized organization, our chapter provides opportunities for students to grow as leaders and make a meaningful impact in their school and community.

📌 Our Mission

To honor outstanding students and empower them to continue demonstrating excellence through service, leadership, and integrity—both in and out of the classroom.

🧠 Membership Criteria

To be eligible for the NHS, students must:

• Be a junior or senior at Travis High School
• Maintain a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.50
• Demonstrate strong character, leadership, and service
• Submit a complete NHS application by the published deadline
• Attend 1 of the 3 interest meetings before the application deadline

🤝 Service & Leadership

NHS members are expected to complete 14 service hours per semester, with at least 7 hours from NHS-sponsored events. Leadership is demonstrated through active participation and initiative in school and community roles.

🏅 Member Expectations

• Maintain academic excellence (GPA ≥ 3.50)
• Attend all NHS meetings and events
• Submit service hours on time
• Uphold the THS Code of Conduct and NHS standards
• Pay membership dues ($25 per semester)
