Important Things to KNOW...
-
Students should have some basic swimming or diving skills. Should know how to swim all four strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and Butterfly. Previous swim competition through summer league or club is preferred.
-
Students must be in the athletic period for the team once they make the team. No exceptions.
-
If a student is an academy or in district transfer, they must sit one year out at the JV level as is District Policy. If the student has attended Travis for one year, they may be eligible for a Varsity spot.
-
The tryout process includes times of 50's in each stroke, the 500 free, and 10x100 freestyle on a set interval.
-
If enrolled in the class during tryouts, a bus will transport the students back to the Travis campus or to the pool, depending on the class period. If not in the class during tryouts, the student will need to find their own transportation to Travis or the pool. Students with their own vehicle may not transport any other student to Travis or the pool at this time. (until paperwork is processed). Transportation is only available for those currently in the class period to the pool.
-
Parents are not allowed to enter onto the pool deck. They must wait in the lobby of the pool building for their student or the coach.
-
If a student does not make the team, they will be removed from the class period. Only those on the team will be in the class period.
