I graduated from Texas A & M International University with a double major in Mathematics and Sociology.  The study of mathematics assists students in their critical thinking and problem-solving skills.  I am currently teaching Statistics, Mathematical Models with Applications (MMA) and Algebraic Reasoning, but as department head, I also assist in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Algebra 1 EOC and TSI prep.  The classes are taught in an abridged, traditional manner with student-centered projects and problems that encourage cooperative learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking. As a compacted-curriculum, credit-recovery program, we provide our students with an opportunity to graduate with their class.  I truly enjoy having the opportunity to work with our students and enabling them to build their confidence when it comes to one of the least liked, but most important subject in school, math. My goal is that all my students will leave my class with a greater understanding and appreciation for mathematics.
