Student Dress Code
The District believes that the Student Dress Code supports the Profile of a Graduate by encouraging respect for self and others, creating a safe learning environment, and honoring diversity.
Students and parents/guardians may choose personal dress and grooming standards as long as they follow the guidelines in this Code and Board Policy FNCA (Local).
Overall, clothing and grooming should be:-
Clean and neat

Free from distractions to learning

Non-disruptive to the school environment

Free from references to tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or other prohibited substances
General Guidelines

Clothing must fit appropriately (not too tight, loose, or revealing)
-
Proper undergarments are required and may not be visible
-
Clothing must not contain profanity, obscene images, or references to drugs, alcohol, weapons, or gangs
-
No ripped or torn clothing that exposes skin or undergarments
-
No pajamas (except on approved spirit days)
-
Tattoos or markings that are offensive, disruptive, or gang-related are not allowed
Tops (Shirts, Blouses, Sweatshirts, Sweaters, Vests)
-
Must touch the belt line (no midriff showing when standing or sitting)
-
No revealing undergarments
-
No oversized armholes, spaghetti straps, sleeveless t-shirts, backless tops, or off-the-shoulder styles
-
No low-cut, see-through, spandex, lycra, or other tight-fitting tops exposing cleavage
Bottoms (Dresses, Jumpers, Skirts, Shorts, Pants, Jeans)

Dresses, skirts, jumpers, and skorts: No more than 3 inches above the knee

Shorts: No more than 3 inches above the knee (K–2 may wear slightly above mid-thigh)

Pants/shorts/jeans: Must be worn at the hip and cover undergarments
-
No excessively tight items (leggings, tights, etc., unless under an appropriate-length top)
Shoes
-
Shoes must be worn at all times

If designed to be tied, they must be tied
-
No flip-flops or backless shoes
-
No unsafe footwear (house shoes, slippers, etc.)

Athletic/lab-appropriate shoes required for PE, athletics, and lab classes
Hair & Grooming
-
Hair must be clean, neat, and in a non-distracting style or color
-
Mustaches, beards, and goatees must be clean, neat, and non-distracting

No shaved designs, markings, or colors in hair or eyebrows (except religious requirements)
Accessories & Miscellaneous
-
No hats, caps, do-rags, wave caps, bandanas, or hoods indoors (except approved days)
-
No sunglasses indoors unless medically necessary (doctor’s note required)
-
No distracting or unsafe body piercings
-
No items (bandanas, chains, laces, shirts) that indicate gang affiliation or cause disruption
