• Students will read one novel of their choosing from this list of books that have previously appeared on the AP English Literature Exam and one nonfiction book that deepens their understanding of a topic that piques their curiosity.

During the first grading period, AP Juniors will read The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell as part of their classroom assigned texts. AP students wishing to start the school year prepared for the rigors of a college-level course may use one or both of these titles for their summer reading selections.
