Degrees and Certifications:
Well hi! I'm Ms. Waller and I teach English II, III, and IV at Progressive High School here in Fort Bend ISD.
I chose to work at Progressive because I have a passion for helping students who are behind or struggling to achieve their graduation goals. When I was in high school, I struggled like many of our FBISD students do and, as a Progressive Star, I want to help you or your scholar reach the success you and I both know they're capable of!
I have a degree in English Literature from the University of Houston with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I had a focus on post-colonial literature and, because of this, have studied literature from cultures all over the world.
My passion for literature extends past college and even my classroom; I love to read novels and play story-based video games in my free time!
My classes at Progressive will cover texts from different places and time periods, working towards the goal of our students being well-rounded, well-read critical thinkers. There is also a strong focus on writing. Just ask one of my former students about my argumentative essay unit!
We will also weave in grammar and vocabulary skills to ensure your students are ready for the STAAR and/or TSI tests.
If you have any questions for me about my class or you or your scholar's success, please reach out via email!
STAAR tutorials will be held during advisory as we approach testing season, and additional tutorials are available by request!
