  • Aviation & Aerospace at Coleman Middle School

    An innovation lab for flight, design, and air mobility. Providing hands-on experiences and project-based learning. Students learn fundamentals of aerodynamics, aircraft systems, drone technology, and aerospace design through flight simulators, drone programming, CAD design, and build-and-fly projects. The pathway exposes students to careers in aviation maintenance, air traffic control, aerospace engineering, commercial drone operations, and emerging urban air mobility.

    Experiences: “Design, Build and Fly Expo,” airport/aviation partner visits, and drone-to-data projects that combine coding, sensors, and evidence-based reporting.

Program Criteria

  • Attendance

    • 90% or better, including both excused and unexcused absences for the previous academic years

    Academic

    • Passing all classes from the previous academic school year
    • Must provide a current report card
    • STAAR - must be at Approaches, Meets, or Masters level

    Discipline

    • No more than 5 days of ISS and/or OSS
    • No disciplinary alternative education (DAEP) placement
    • No juvenile justice alternative education (JJAEP) placement
    • No arrest, charge, or conviction of a criminal offense
    • No current probation or other conditional release

    Siblings

    • Siblings of current transfer students must apply to be considered for enrollment (same criteria applies)

    Employees

    • Must submit a completed Choice Program application by the deadline, where applicable

    Revocation

    • Violation of the rules and policies as contained in the FBISD Student Code of Conduct, poor academic performance, repeated incidences of tardiness, or poor performance
