Meet the Music Teacher Linda Knight Burkley
Linda Knight Burkley (Dramatic Soprano) is a native of San Antonio, Texas. An honor graduate of Phillis Wheatley High School.
Graduate of Howard University Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Master of Arts Degree from Texas Woman’s University in Music Education, All Level Music Certification from Texas Southern University, All-Level Mid-Management Certification from Prairie View A & M University, Post Master Degree work on Doctorate of Education degree North Central University and The University of Houston.
Over Thirty-five years in Education in the following area Public School Education 35 years, Higher Education 17 years, Public School Administration. Fine Arts Magnet Coordinator, Fine Arts Director, Fine Arts Department Chairperson Houston ISD, Fort Bend ISD, and Energized for Excellence Charter School and Adjunct Professor of Music at Texas Southern University. Active in the community, volunteers for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for over 20 years, Mother of Edward L. Burkley IV and married for over 35 years to The Late Edward L. Burkley III. Member of The Fort Bend Church where she works with the music ministry, Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. Life Member, Jack and Jill of America Life Member and Top Ladies of Distinction.
The philosophy of the elementary music program in FBISD is to provide all participating students with opportunities to develop an appreciation for music through a variety of musical experiences both group and individual. Elementary music provides a general music curriculum to help make each student a knowledgeable consumer of music as an art form.
Mrs. Linda Burkley is the general music teacher at Mission Glen Elementary School and will see each student in grades K-5 at least once a week.
