Hi, my name is Ms. Newsome, and I am so excited to be serving as the school counselor at Leonetti Elementary! I am passionate about helping students grow socially, emotionally, and academically. My goal is to ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn each day. I believe every student is unique, capable, and deserving of kindness. By working together with students, families, teachers, and the community, we can build a positive school environment where everyone thrives.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Sam Houston State University and my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Houston Baptist (now Houston Christian) University. I have also earned American School Counselor Association Specialist Certificates in areas such as Mental Health and Anxiety & Stress Management. These experiences and trainings allow me to better support students, families, and teachers.

Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and friends, reading and enjoying music. I also enjoy photography and capturing the beauty in our world.
