    Assistant Principal

    Michelle Colter

My name is Michelle Colter and I am truly humbled and honored to have this opportunity to serve the students, parents, staff, and community here at Briargate Elementary.

I was born and raised in Austin, Texas, where I graduated from high school. I then moved to Houston, TX in 2006, where I attended the University of Houston - Main Campus where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in education. I also attended Stephen F. Austin University where I received my master’s degree in educational leadership.

I initiated my career as an educator in the Houston Independent School District, where I began as a substitute teacher and then moved into a teaching position after receiving my degree. Within that district, I also served as a Classroom Culture Specialist, Math Department Chair, Summer School Administrator, and a Data Driven Instruction Specialist. I then moved to Aldine Independent School District where I served as an Assistant Principal for a year.

I am a proud wife and mother to a rambunctious two-year-old boy. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, listening to music, watching television, shopping, and traveling, and having fun.

I am strongly committed to the safety, well-being, and growth of ALL students, teachers, and staff of Briargate Elementary. I wholeheartedly believe that ALL children have the ability to reach their maximum potential and I will treat every child as if he or she is my very own, I will set expectations high, and settle for nothing less. I look forward to working alongside Dr. Sutton, the principal, and the Briargate community, this school year, and I pray for a fun-filled, successful year towards meeting our goals.
