Hello! My name is Mary Brown. I am the Math Specialist at James C. Neill and Pecan Grove Elementary schools.

After graduating from Southwest Texas, now named Texas State, I began my teaching career in Aldine ISD teaching 1st grade. I moved to Alief ISD in 2000, where I taught First and Second grade. I went on to become a Math Recovery teacher for 3 years. I have also had the pleasure of becoming both a Primary and Intermediate Math Specialist.

This is my seventh year in Fort Bend ISD. As a Math Specialist, I feel that I have the best job. I am fortunate to be able to work with both students and teachers. I want to show students that math is meaningful, valuable, and FUN! I will do this with a variety of strategies and manipulatives. While working with teachers, I will provide ideas, resources, and activities to help their students strengthen their understanding of Math concepts.

One of my favorites parts of being a Math specialist is asking students about their thought process. I continuously love asking students questions that stretch their thinking about math concepts.

I live in the Richmond area with my husband, three daughters, and a variety of pets including a dog named Charlie Brown, and two cats named Ollie and James. I love swimming, snorkeling, and watching my daughters play golf, softball, and volleyball.
