Welcome to my classroom, Huskies! My name is Laura DeJesus, and I am a first grade teacher at Madden Elementary.   I grew up in Sugar Land, TX and am a proud graduate of Clements High School in FBISD.  I went on to graduate from The University of Texas in Austin with a BA in Theater & Dance.  Madden is like a second home to me, as my own children are students at Madden too!   I was honored to be named Madden's Rookie Teacher of the Year, as well as a 2021-2022 FBISD Rookie Teacher of the Year!   When I am not teaching, I love bike riding with my family around the neighborhood and walking our dog, Daisy.  A hobby you may not know about me- I love to SING!  You may hear me singing around my classroom.  I approach every day in our classroom with the motto "CHOOSE HAPPY!"  In addition to teaching the foundations of Math & Science, I like to teach the joy of finding the positive in each day and love watching my students grow into the best that they can be!
