Mrs. Laura Brown
My name is Laura Brown. I am new to Walker Station this year and will be teaching music!
I have been teaching music in Fort Bend ISD since 2012. I grew up in Sugar Land, TX and Victoria, TX. I actually attended Walker Station as a kindergartener and 1st grader. It's exciting to be back here again!
I graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education in December of 2012. I have a very musical background having been involved with fine arts for much of my life. I started in dance, then choir and theatre. Teaching has been a passion of mine for a very long time. Prior to graduating from college, I worked for Carolina Creek Christian Camp and other music-related student camps. I am passionate about professional learning and spend a lot of time pursuing continuing education. The past two summers, I have spent two weeks at Southern Methodist University for a post-graduate course on Orff Schulwerk, an elementary music method for children through singing, dancing, and playing instruments. I am a member of the Texas Choral Directors Association and the Texas Music Educators Assocation. I love to sing, play piano, and attend concerts. I also have non-musical hobbies, like cooking, baking, and traveling with my husband. We are welcoming our first child in September, a daughter named Delaney. We are so excited to be parents!
I am looking forward to teaching at WSE this year!
