Hello Pecan Grove Elementary families! I'm Monique Mackay and I am excited about beginning my seventh year of teaching in Fort Bend ISD. I moved to Houston in 2017, from west Texas. I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. I graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso (go Miners) and began my teaching career in Alpine, Texas. I will be entering my fourteenth year of teaching and I'm delighted to join the PGE family. My husband and I have a daughter and two furry pets. My husband also works in FBISD.  

I'm eager to return to third grade after being in a math specialist role the past two years. I taught first, third and fourth grade prior to this year. In my previous role, I had the opportunity to focus on math instruction from pre-k through fifth grade. I believe all students can accomplish anything they want to achieve, through dedication, effort and support.

I hope you are eager to embark on a wonderful learning experience filled with goals, challenges, risks, and reflection. I am fully committed to creating a support team with you for your child, as they make progress and grow throughout the school year. 

Thank you for sharing your children with me and entrusting me to provide them with a wonderful learning experience while maintaining a growth mindset. It's going to be a memorable school year.
