B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies Elementary Education (Grades 1-8) Gifted and Talented

Mrs. Melissa Hambleton

back to schoolWelcome to Walker Station Elementary!  My name is Melissa Hambleton and I teach 5th grade Math and Science. This will be my 28th year of teaching, 27 of which have been at Walker Station teaching 5th grade.

I have lived in Texas all my life and grew up in the small town of Wharton. I attended Wharton County Junior College for two years, playing volleyball. I then attended Sam Houston State University where I received my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I began my teaching career in January 1998 by joining Colony Bend Elementary as a 4th grade teacher for half a year. I then moved to Walker Station the next fall as a 5th grade teacher, where I have been ever since. Walker Station is like my second home and the amazing people I work with are like family to me. I cherish the relationships I have built among my fellow teachers as well as with the families of students I have taught. I absolutely love what I do! It fills my heart to get messages and visits from past students and see how far they have come.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, going on road trips with Mr. Hambleton, and being entertained by our 5 cats Moo Bear, Luna, Panda, Socks, and Ginger. My hobbies include being creative (especially doing art journal/scrapbook projects), working in my garden, finding vintage treasures to repurpose, and watching ladies college basketball (especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Uconn Huskys) and the WNBA. I'm so excited to get to know you! I know we are going to have an amazing adventure together this year!

  • My conference period is 9:40-10:25 AM.
