  • CBLT Needs Parents, Community Members, and Business Representatives

The SLMS learning community needs parents, community members, and business representatives to actively participate in an important advisory capacity to the campus principal. This advisory group is known as the CBLT, or "Campus-Based Leadership Team." The group meets monthly for one hour (typically on a Wednesday) to review campus procedures and policies, consider ways to improve service to the stakeholders in our community, and give direction to professional development and overall campus improvement efforts. If you are interested in serving, there are roles for parents, roles for community members, and roles for business representatives. Please complete this information form to indicate your interest. Our first meeting is on Wednesday, September 28th, at 4:20 in the upstairs portion of the campus library.

  • Attending Home Athletic Events

When students wish to attend an after-school home athletic event (i.e. in the SLMS gymnasium or at Old Kempner Stadium), students will:

    • Go home via their regular method (bus, car, bike, rider, walker)
    • Return to campus no earlier than 15 minutes prior to the start of the event with a parent who will remain with the student during the event and who will take the student home when it is over

Students may not loiter off property in the city park, baseball fields, adjoining properties, or on the school grounds. Admission is free to the events in the SLMS gymnasiums, but events are $2 for adults and $1 for students at Old Kempner Stadium. Students who arrive at the event location without a parent or who arrive without a parent who is able to stay for the entire event will not be permitted to enter.

  • FBISD/SLMS Student Expectations Assemblies held 8/30/16

On Tuesday, August 30th, we held grade-level assemblies to reiterate student expectations, including academic honesty, digital citizenship, how we will treat one another, and the dress code. For your convenience, the talking points about dress code were taken directly from pages 33-35 of the 2016-17 FBISD Student/Parent Handbook. You may access the entire handbook here, or just the dress code and digital citizenship portion here.

  • Gifted and Talented

The Gifted & Talented Program is designed to meet the unique educational needs of gifted students.  Fort Bend ISD provides GT services in math, science, English language arts, and social studies at all grade levels and all District campuses.

To refer your child to be tested for the Gifted & Talented Program, complete one of the steps below.

    • Preferred Method: complete a parent referral form in Family Access

Family Access may be found at  GT Parent referral in Family Access

    • Alternative Method: complete and return a referral form to the school counselor

The form is available for download at www.fortbendisd.com/gifted or may be obtained from your child’s counselor.

    • All students will be given a referral form through their social studies classes the week of August 28th.

All referrals must be completed online through Family Access or returned to the school counselor by September 30, 2016. Kindergarten services begin March 1, 2017 and 1st - 11th grade services begin at the start of the 2017-2018 school year.  Students currently identified as Gifted and Talented do not need to be referred to maintain their current identification.  Identified students should only be referred if they wish to be tested for identification in additional subject areas.

GT referral forms parents will fill out in English and in Spanish
