Science Project Selected To Be Launched Into Space

Four female GTA scientists will be representing the "Q" at the national level and beyond! QVMS seventh grade students Leena Joshi, Athulya Nair, Christina Phong and Michelle Zhou created a proposal for a science experiment as part of the Student Spaceflight Experiment Program (SSEP) sponsored by the National center for Earth and Space Science Education. The students' experiment focused on "How Does Microgravity Affect Apium graveolens' Germination?" was selected and will travel to the International Space Station (ISS) on Mission 12. These students and GTA Science teacher Ms. Morales will travel to Washington, D.C. this summer to be recognized at the SSEP National Conference. The girls hope to travel to Cape Canaveral to see their project launched into space as well. Kudos to these four young scientists! Outstanding work, ladies!
