Kimberly Omanukwue
My name is Kimberly Omanukwue and I am honored to be one of the counselors at Anne Sullivan Elementary School! I am very excited to work with the ASE students, staff and parents each year.
My role consist of: Group counseling. Individual counseling and Guidance lessons. The classroom lessons will focus on the districts Core Essentials. The guidance lessons are monthly and will also cover a variety of topics related to academic success, goal setting, and decision making. The topics are beneficial to the social and academic development of the students. This is also an important time for me to get to know your student and build a positive relationship with each child.
My goal at Anne Sullivan is to make sure that all students are socially successful. I will collaborate with staff and parents to facilitate a positive school environment.
The school counselor’s job includes the following:
- Counsel individuals and small groups of students to meet identified needs.
- Deliver the guidance curriculum and assist teachers with the school’s guidance curriculum.
- Consult with parents, teachers, and other staff regarding concerns about students’ needs.
- Coordinate people and resources in the schools and in the community for the benefit of students.
- Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program to serve all students.
- Provide staff development and training.
- Know about and adhere to the ethical, legal and professional standards of the counseling profession.
How Do Students Access the School Counselor?
A student may access a counselor by:
- Self-referral
- Teacher referral
- Parent referral
- Administrative or other staff referral
