Introducing FBISD Redesigned!

Information for Parents and Guardians

Our district is preparing for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year with the launch of FBISD Redesigned, which includes new innovative opportunities for our students and open enrollment at select campuses.

High School Virtual Learning Option

FBISD will launch a Virtual High School option open exclusively to the 2026–27 freshman class. The program will provide a flexible, high-quality learning environment designed to meet the needs of students seeking a fully virtual academic experience while maintaining the rigor and expectations of an FBISD education.

Who Can Apply?

Any student previously enrolled in Texas who will enter the 9th grade in Fall 2026 is eligible to apply. (Students who live within FBISD zones will be given priority placement.)

Extracurricular/UIL Participation

Students who reside within FBISD attendance boundaries will be able to participate in extracurricular/UIL activities during the 2026-27 school year if they attend their designated classes during the day and provide their own transportation to after school activities.

Students who reside outside of FBISD’s attendance boundaries will NOT be able to participate in extracurricular/UIL activities during the 2026-27 school year.

Middle School Choice Programs

Next year, six middle schools will offer specialized programs designed to build skills, experience and college readiness in the following emerging career fields:

  • Coleman Middle School – Aviation and Aerospace
  • Crockett Middle School – Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Garcia Middle School – Creative Arts and Innovation
  • Hodges Bend Middle School – EnviroTech Learning Lab
  • Missouri City Middle School – First Responders
  • Sartartia Middle School – Leadership and Civic Engagement

Who Can Apply?

Any student entering the sixth grade during the 2026-27 school year.

  • Students zoned to the host campus will automatically participate in the Choice Program.
  • Students residing within FBISD but outside the school’s zone may apply to attend the Choice Program. Please note that transportation will not be provided.
  • Students living outside FBISD boundaries may apply to attend the Choice Program. These requests are subject to space availability; priority placement will be given to FBISD zoned students.

Limited Open Enrollment

FBISD will offer open enrollment at select campuses for the 2026-27 school year. A list of open campuses can be found inside the district’s online application which can be accessed from www.fortbendisd.com/redesigned.

Who Can Apply?

  • Students residing within FBISD may apply to attend a campus that has seats available. Please note that transportation will not be provided.
  • Students living outside FBISD boundaries may apply; priority placement will be given to FBISD zoned students.

Application Process – Opens April 2 and Closes April 24, 2026

  • Interested students should complete the online application which can be accessed from www.fortbendisd.com/redesigned.
  • Students who meet the required attendance, academic and discipline criteria will be entered into a randomized lottery for selection.
  • Parents will be notified whether their student was selected during the week of May 11.

Open Enrollment

FBISD will offer open enrollment for employee’s dependents for the 2026-27 school year. If you would like your child to transfer to a different campus, fill out the online application which can be accessed from www.fortbendisd.com/redesigned. Please note that transportation will not be provided.

If your student is already on an employee transfer, fill out the application to renew their transfer.

Application Process – Opens April 2 and Closes May 1, 2026
