Dulles High School Wins State, Advances to National Academic Decathlon Competition
FORT BEND ISD (March 26, 2026) – The Academic Decathlon team at Dulles High School claimed the state title when they won first place in the Large School category at the Thomas E. Mosley State Academic Decathlon Championship, securing a spot in the United States Academic Decathlon National Competition this April in Garden Grove, California.
Dulles students earned 27 individual medals, with five students ranking among the top 15 overall competitors in the state.
Leading the team was Alice Jeong, who placed 2nd overall in the Honors division, earning gold medals with perfect scores in Art, Essay, Literature, Science, and Social Science, along with a silver medal in Music.
The team also swept the Scholastic division, claiming the top three overall spots:
- Suleyman Bashir – 1st overall, earning gold medals in Art, Literature, Music, Science, and Social Science, and a bronze medal in Essay
- Albert Le – 2nd overall, earning a gold medal in Music and bronze medals in Art and Literature
- Triet Nguyen – 3rd overall, earning a silver medal in Art and bronze medals in Economics, Literature, and Science
In the Varsity division, Alicia Bantu placed 5th overall, earning a gold medal in Literature and a silver medal in Art.
Fort Bend ISD concluded the season with two top 20 ranked programs in Texas 6A. Along with Dulles winning its eighth state title in nine years, Ridge Point High School achieved its highest-ever state finish, placing 20th in Texas.
