FBISD Honors Bus Driver Robert Walker with March PAC Award
FORT BEND ISD (March 5, 2026) – Fort Bend ISD bus driver Robert Walker has been named the district’s March PAC Award recipient for his dedication to supporting the Transportation team and his fellow drivers. Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith, district leaders, and family members surprised him with the announcement.
While driving his route one day, he witnessed a fellow driver strike a light pole after experiencing a medical emergency. Walker stopped immediately to render aid until emergency responders arrived—helping save his co-worker’s life.
“We're all here to celebrate you and the work that you do each and every day,” Dr. Smith said. “You actually saved a life. God put you there for a purpose. He put you there because He knows that you have what it takes to respond in that moment,” Dr. Smith said.
Walker continuously demonstrates professionalism, accountability, and communication by mastering new technology, mentoring fellow drivers, and providing guidance and feedback to improve the Transportation team’s processes.
“If you remain patient, humble, and focused on the task at hand, recognition will come. This is living proof that people see your efforts. I appreciate you not just as an employee, but as a person,” FBISD Executive Director Anthony Sims said
Walker has served the district for 12 years.
“I was extremely surprised. I love what I do here for the district,” Walker said.
Retired FBISD Executive Director of Transportation Mike Jones was also present for the surprise.
“I’m very happy that Robert received the recognition he deserves,” he said. “He is a great guy.”
