FBISD Students Make Strong Showing in Houston Rodeo Art Contest

FORT BEND ISD (February 20, 2026) – Nine Fort Bend ISD student artists were selected as auction finalists in the 2026 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Contest – one of the highest honors in Texas for visual arts students.
The art competition begins each year with approximately 200,000 student entries representing 197 school districts. In 2026, more than 4,300 works were submitted online, with 3,700 pieces advancing to in-person judging at NRG Center. From there, 800 artworks were recognized as Best of Show, Gold Medal, or Special Merit. Ultimately, just 100 works were selected to advance to the School Art Auction, scheduled for March 15, 2026.
“These students represent the very best of creativity, craftsmanship, and artistic voice in Fort Bend ISD,” said FBISD Director of Fine Arts James Drew. “We are incredibly proud of their accomplishments and grateful for the dedicated teachers who guided and supported them throughout the creative process.”
