FORT BEND ISD (January 30, 2026) – Fort Bend ISD’s Board approved the 2026-27 school calendar at their Regular Business Meeting last night.

The option chosen received the highest ratings from FBISD stakeholders when surveyed about their calendar preferences.
Stakeholders who participated in the survey included parents, teachers, students, principals, staff and community members.

Highlights of the calendar are:

• First day of school for students is August 11
• Professional learning and teacher planning is embedded within the school year*
• Breaks each month, including a week-long fall break
• Traditional holiday structure (a week-long Thanksgiving break, a two-week winter break, a week-long Spring Break)
• First semester ends before winter break
• School year ends before Memorial Day

Note: All teachers are required to complete 150 continuing education hours over a course of five years to maintain their certificate. These professional learning and teacher planning days support fulfillment of this requirement and offer time for teachers to engage in learning and development to support improved student learning and achievement.
