FBISD Introduces New Robotics and Engineering Courses for Middle School Students
FORT BEND ISD (January 28, 2026) – Fort Bend ISD will launch two new Career and Technical Education electives for middle school students in the 2026-27 school year, providing an early introduction to high-demand fields including robotics, engineering, computer science and artificial intelligence (AI).
Sixth-grade students may enroll in Technovation I, which introduces foundational concepts in mechanics, electronics, computer programming, aviation, drones and AI through hands-on projects. Technovation II builds on these skills, allowing seventh- and eighth-grade students to further explore real-world applications and potential career pathways.
The new courses will be offered in addition to the district’s current middle school CTE offerings, including College and Career Exploration; Touch Systems Data Entry and Dollars and Sense; Principles of Human Services; and Fundamentals of Computer Science.
The deadline for course selection for the 2026-27 school year is February 13. For more information, visit fortbendisd.com/CTE or contact a school counselor.
Note: CTE offerings may vary by campus based on student demand and staffing needs.
