FBISD Marks Major Construction Milestone at Clements High School

FORT BEND ISD (December 9, 2025) – Fort Bend ISD (FBISD) celebrated a significant milestone for the rebuilding of Clements High School, by placing the final steel beam which completes the structural frame. It was a moment that honors the school’s legacy while signaling the next phase of construction for the future home of the Clements Rangers.

Clements High School students kicked off the event with the Presentation of Colors and the National Anthem.

FBISD Superintendent Dr. Marc Smith, Board Vice President Angie Hanan, Board Secretary Dr. Shirley Rose-Gilliam, Trustee Afshi Charania, Sugar Land Mayor Carol McCutcheon, district leaders, students and staff, and construction partners signed the final beam before it was lifted into place.

Dr. Smith thanked community members for supporting Bond 2023.

“None of this would be possible without you,” he said. “Thank you for believing in public education and for recognizing that investing in our schools is investing in our future.”

Durotech Chief Executive Officer David Rowe, Project Manager Clarence Stephens, DLR Group Principal Kirk Madison, and FBISD Executive Director of Design & Construction Daniel Bankhead shared remarks on the construction progress and design vision for the new campus.

All speakers expressed deep gratitude for the workers bringing the project to life.

“Watching this project come to life has been remarkable, and I am honored to be part of this journey with you,” Clements Principal Tara Baker said. “As we raise this final beam, we are reminded that a strong foundation supports everything — our dreams, our goals, and our future.”

The new building is one of the district’s voter-approved 2023 Bond projects and is scheduled to open in the 2027–28 school year.
