Kempner High School Employees Honored with PAC Award for Lifesaving Response
FORT BEND ISD (September 25, 2025) - Four Kempner High School employees are recipients of Fort Bend ISD’s September PAC Award, recognized for their professionalism and teamwork in responding to a medical emergency on campus that saved a colleague’s life.
Nurse Donna Frank, LVN Shelia Sterns, Athletic Trainer Jeffery Arceneaux and Teacher/Coach Jeffrey Barrett jumped into action when the school’s new principal, Dr. Reginald Brown, collapsed during staff development training in the school cafeteria. Within seconds, they provided critical lifesaving measures that stabilized him until emergency responders arrived.
FBISD Deputy Superintendent Dr. Jaretha Jordan and Sgt. Jacob Hobbs nominated the Kempner staff members for exemplifying the core values of the PAC Award through their heroic efforts.
“We are so excited to recognize you as our September PAC Award recipients for your commitment, your hard work and your rapid response to assisting a colleague in need,” Jordan said during the surprise celebration. “Thank you so very much for all that you did.”
Dr. Brown shared his experience of watching the video of the incident for the first time and expressed his deep gratitude.
“You see the professionalism of the staff, and you see the accountability and the communication that they had,” he said. “Instead of watching myself, I ended up watching them.”
“I’m just glad to be back,” Brown said. “These are my guardian angels. My family is indebted to them, and I’m so proud of all of them and the work they did on me.”
