Suicide Prevention Week: Supporting Student Mental Health in FBISD

FORT BEND ISD (September 5, 2025) – Fort Bend ISD is committed to developing the “Whole Child” which includes supporting the mental, behavioral, social, emotional and physical health of all its students.

To ensure every student receives the care they need, FBISD established a structured system of mental health support designed to guide students, families and staff through the various levels of resources offered by the district.

Campus counselors are the first line of support when students show signs of emotional distress. They provide guidance, facilitate classroom lessons and collaborate with campus staff to meet students’ needs.

As support needs grow, FBISD social workers provide direct counseling and social services to help students adjust successfully to school, while coordinating efforts between home, school and the community.

Students who require more intensive, individualized mental health services can utilize one of FBISD’s four mental health therapists or one of the district’s community partners including Clear Hope Counseling and DePelchin Children’s Center.

If immediate help is needed, students are encouraged to call or text the National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 988.

Additional student and parent resources that support mental and physical health, including webinars may be found online at www.fortbendisd.com/wholechild.

Suicide Prevention Week is September 7–13.
