Fort Bend ISD Recognized Nationally as a Premier Community for Theatre Education

Fort Bend ISD (June 11, 2025) – Fort Bend ISD has earned national recognition as a Premier Community for Theatre Education, a distinction awarded by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA). This honor celebrates the district’s strong commitment to providing all students with access to high-quality theatre education.

“We are so proud of our amazing theatre educators and students,” FBISD Director of Fine Arts James Drew said. “In FBISD theatre programs, students can grow their talents in a safe, supportive environment that values artistic excellence.”

The district’s Fine Arts team completed a rigorous application process, demonstrating excellence in areas such as curriculum, teacher development, instructional time, program funding, student participation and facilities.

EdTA is the parent organization of the International Thespian Society, the honor society for theatre students, which has inducted more than 2.5 million Thespians since 1929.
